چکیده

Selection of the most suitable substrate for a Microstrip antenna is a matter of prime importance. This is because many limitations of the microstrip antenna such as high return loss, low gain and low efficiency can be overcome by selecting an appropriate substrate for fabrication of the antenna, without shifting the resonant frequency significantly. The substate properties such as its dielectric constant, loss tangent have a pronounced effect on the antenna characteristics. Some of the critical properties that are to be taken care of while selecting a dielectric are homogeneity, moisture absorption and adhesion of metalfoil cladding. In this paper a comprehensive study of the effect of variation of substrate material on the antenna properties has been presented. Index Terms — Compact stacked square Microstrip Antenna (CSSMA), Electromagnetic band gap (EBG), efficiency, reflector plane return loss. —————————— ——————————

A compact stacked Quasi-fractal microstrip antenna for RFID applications

In this paper, we propose a new compact quasi-fractal shaped microstrip antenna that consists of a hexagonal patch as the main radiator and a complementary stacked patch as the parasitic element. The overall surface of the proposed quasi-fractal patch is about 55% lower than the conventional hexagonal patch. Using of stacked technique, the gain reduction of compression technique is almost compe...

Broadband Stacked Microstrip Patch Antenna for L-Band Operation: FDTD Modeling

This paper presents a novel implementation of an electromagnetically coupled patch antenna using air gap filled substrates to achieve the maximum bandwidth. We also propose an efficient modeling technique using the FDTD method which can substantially reduce the simulation cost for modeling the structure. The simulated results have been compared with measurement to show the broadband behavio...

Development of A Compact and Low Profile ‎Cavity Backed Slot Antenna Using Microstrip ‎Gap Waveguide Technology

Proof of concept of a cavity backed slot antenna based on inverted microstrip gap ‎waveguide (IMGW) technology is presented. Since the antenna is operating based on the ‎first resonating mode of the cavity, it is more compact compared to the ordinary cavity ‎backed slot antennas in which the second cavity mode is used for radiation. Furthermore, ‎the proposed antenna element introduces lower lo...

GHz AND 5 . 8 GHz COMPACT DUAL - BAND CIRCULARLY POLARIZED PATCH ANTENNA

A dual-band circularly polarized stacked microstrip antenna for ISM Bands (2.45GHz & 5.8GHz) applications is designed and implemented. By stacking two different corner-truncated square patches in a dielectric substrate layer, the microstrip antenna for dual-frequency circular polarization (CP) can be achieved with −11.5 dB and −12.8 dB measured return loss for 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz. Semicircular g...

Wideband Stacked Square Microstrip Antenna with Shorting Plates

The impedance bandwidth of a probe-fed microstrip antenna (MSA) is inherently narrow. Therefore, many approaches to increase the bandwidth such as using additional microstrip resonators [1], stacking parasitic patches above a fed patch (stacked MSA) [2] and embedding a U-shaped slot in the radiating patch [3], etc. have been proposed. It is desirable for wideband antennas that the frequency cha...
